60's 70's Garage, Rock, Blues, Soul & Country

I live in College Station TX. I collect vinyl records starting back in the early 70's. I like many genres of music. Hooked on classic retro film. I listen mostly to music from the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's. See My Archive Favorites for a wealth of free music downloads. Previously all saved favorites were a simple text description until the new site makeover in 2015.

In a program originally recorded in May of 1963, Rolf Cahn and Phil Huffman talk to Texas bluesman Mance Lipscomb, about his life and music. He describes growing up as a Baptist in the South, the balance between singing and playing music, as well as the origins of many of his best known songs. Throughout the discussion, Lipscomb performs a number of both, famous and obscure, acoustic blues songs, often responding to requests by Huffman and Cahn, who sound as pleased as two cats in a fish pond...

A collection of 1950s television clips (edited together by me!), featuring singers that Prince Vegeta hasn't heard of. Some of these singers were well-known at the time and are still remembered by those alive at the time. Some of these singers are noteworthy in some way. Some of them were obscure then and obscure now. Some of them don't matter in the slightest. But all of them are very talented! Over 20 singers, with clips from 14 different television series.

After a fairly brief and appropriately poetically abstract introduction, Roy Trumbull plays Bob Dylan’s fifth studio album “Bringing It All Back Home,” in its entirety. This program was recorded on April 17, 1965, just a month after the LP had been released on Columbia Records. Long recognized as the album in which Dylan embraced rock and roll and turned from writing political protest songs to those more personal or allegorical in nature, “Bringing It All Back Home” featured one side...
